Birth control for horsesJuly 20, 2009 1:24PM
By Joe Wise
I'm as shocked as many of you that this bill has made it as far as it has. Hopefully the Slayer of the Fly, President Obama sees some of the problems and sends it back for some changes.
I caught a headline today about a new bill that will help conserve an American West symbol alive an under control. So to add to our already mounting budget deficit with no promises of getting it under control we add another $700 million.
Again my research is very limited on this but here are some highlights. Birth control for horses, money to help repair horse damaged property, 19 million more acres of land for horses, inspections for horse adopties and a horse census every 2 years.
A horse census ever two years eh? We only have one every 10 years?! You can argue that a horse census will give people jobs, I mean some one has to count them but I think they're going to be really shocked when they find out that most of these horses haven't had a taxable income in years. There are plenty of private groups that do this already I'm sure.
I'm not sure how much land wild horses need, but I do live in Pennsylvania and I have an idea how much land wild deer need. Adding on 19 million acres doesn't seem like a good idea to me, especially for those Greenies out there. 19 million less acres for corn, corn by the way is what is used to make ethanol for that new fangled eviro-safe, anti-big oil, cheap fuel we've been promised for the past how many years? But this step suggests the Greenies have given up on it.
Home inspections for buying a horse? Really? Come on. I'm sure all those people in the old west would've loved to have you see their home with no running water, no air conditioning and no sealy mattress. Now that my friend is Iconic Old West. You want to keep a symbol of American Old West then put the politicians you elect in one of those old ranch homes during their term and see how long they are for a bill like that.
Birth control for horses, Do I need to say any more?
The only one that seems to make a little sense is the helping people who have damaged property from horses. I mean I would really like it if in Pennsylvania I got help paying for damage to my car when a deer jumps in front of me... oh wait I can, from my insurance company. Just another way for the government to screw over insurance companies.
I like horses they are magnificent beautiful creatures and can pull a Budweiser wagon pretty good too. They have been our beast of burden for hundreds of years and still used to this day by many. But this bill is just more wasteful spending by our elected officials.
